Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff is a March 2022 purebred commercial Belted Galloway heifer calf out of BG cow Luna. Luna is out of Hospitality Farms stock and was bred by a young bull also out of Hospitality farms stock, however, these cattle were not registered. Luna is medium frame, very sleek, and has a beautiful head.

Hufflepuff is shaping up to have the same sleek stature as her dam. She will be perfect for someone looking to add a more petite sized heifer to their herd. She has been haltered and has been started on standing tied and leading but will need continued practice. She does well with handling especially while eating but is still timid when new people are around.

She is currently eating grass hay and corn based grain.

Located 15 minutes east of Cambridge, Oh (43725) and near the Guernsey Co Fairgrounds.

Hello, I was inquiring about Hufflepuff. My husband and I have a very small beef herd. We currently have one beltie and looking to possibly add another. We are located in Michigan about 35 minutes from pioneer OH.

    1. Hello! Thanks for reaching out! We have several belties and absolutely love them? I would estimate you are about 3 1/2 hours from me. Anything else I can tell you about Hufflepuff?

Has she had any vaccinations? Like Inforce 3 or anything. And is she use to being stalled or is she use to being in and out of the barn freely? I’m just thinking in case she’s use to being stalled at night. And I read she’s getting halter broke, so thats a plus! My kids are 4-Hers so they’ve had to start a steer out from scratch.

      2. She has not had any vaccinations. We do have Cattle Master Gold 5 that she could be given but because of varying preferences and different areas having different recommendations, we don’t vaccinate if they are potentially being sold.
Up until 2 weeks ago she has been out on open pasture 24/7. She’s been in the barn recently being weaned and worked with but will be fine to go back out without being stalled at night.
Yes, she still needs some work but has been started with the halter. She can be stubborn but that’s been my experience with heifers 🤣. So far she leads with a bucket of food. I think with continued handling she will be good with it.
